Holy Rosary Church Complex by Trahan Architects

The design of the Holy Rosary Complex-comprised of an oratory, administrative building, and religious education building-for a rural Catholic Parish in South Louisiana, is an honest exploration of form, function, light and materials that results in an engaging and profound study in sacred space. Neither opulent nor austere, Holy Rosary Chapel presents a thoughtful meditation on sacred spaces and the spatial embodiment of spiritual experience. Via Archdaily Visit Trahan Architects

El Uro House in Mexico by 7XA Taller de Arquitectura

Designers at  7XA Taller De Arquitectura carefully considered the final site of this modern home in El Uro, Mexico. They ensured that the two-story glazing that adorns the rear of the home had a breath taking view of the nearby Sierra Madre Mountains. The home’s impressive presence relies heavily upon a dramatically cantilevered upper level and a white roof plane that visually detaches itself from the lower mass of the house. Edge House by Mobius Architects

The Edge House, designed by Poland-based Mobius Architects, occupies an excavated niche on a limestone hillside in Cracow. Construction on the home recently commenced, and these conceptual renderings illustrate its unorthodox site conditions. Aside from its site, the Edge House’s most striking feature is a front elevation dominated by a steep, shingled roof, pierced by windows and a large terrace jutting over the site of a former quarry. The roof was necessitated by local building codes, which don’t allow for roofs with less than 30 degree slopes. Via SwipeLife.com Visit Mobius Architects

Bridge House By Max Pritchard Architects

Located an hours drive from Adelaide, Australia. The clients required a permanent home/office on their small property, located one hour’s drive from Adelaide. A bend in the winter creek that divides the property, creates a billabong (a deep waterhole) bounded by a high rocky bank. A house was required that would allow appreciation of the site without spoiling its beauty, but at a budget comparable with a “prefabricated” dwelling or an “off the plan” developers design (approximately (A$220,000). Bridge House by Stanley Saitowitz

In Marin, California, this modern home designed by architect Stanley Saitowitz  sits in marked contrast to its natural surroundings. The long, narrow stucture spans a rocky ravine from east to west, bridging two sides of the hilly property. The strict linear shape of the home is balanced by its exterior Cor-Ten cladding. The steel cladding was allowed to weather naturally, which resulted in a deep red patina of surface rust. Large glass panels alternate with the Cor-Ten, allowing residents views from high above the ravine. Via Swipelife Visit Stanley Saitowitz

Terico Winery By Sebastian Mariscal Studio

Located in Valle de Guadalupe, Baja California, Mexico. Inspired by the owner’s wine recipe (1/3 Cabernet, 1/3 Barbera, 1/3 Petit Syrah), the linear design of this “wine lab” is comprised of three main spaces that open completely to the outside and bring natural ventilation into the building. The materiality of the structure ref lects the rough yet sophisticated process of wine production. The corten steel exterior and the white acrylic interior skin contrast the raw natural environment with the refined end product.
